Business News: New iPhones hit stores today

Posted: Updated:

(CBS) - Apple's new iPhones hit stores today. The 5S and lower cost 5C models were unveiled last week in California. Some people who don't want to wait in long lines, are paying others to do it for them.  An odd-jobs hiring service called Task-Rabbit matches so called "line-sitters" with users willing to pay at least $14 dollars an hour to have someone take their place in line. Last year, a taskrabbit scored $1,500 dollars for waiting in line for 100 hours for the iPhone 5.

(CBS) - College students do not feel adequately prepared for the workforce when they graduate.

That's according to a new study-- conducted by Northeastern University. It shows 62-percent of those surveyed rated colleges' efforts to prepare students as "poor" or "fair." This is a decrease in confidence from a similar survey conducted last year-- which showed the college system to be either "good" or "excellent." Researchers also found colleges aren't in tune with today's job market.

(CBS) - The postal service may need an emergency rate increase to stay afloat. The Postmaster General told a senate panel Thursday that the agency is in the middle of a financial disaster and expects to lose 6 billion dollars this year. The panel is looking at ways to fix the agency's finances, including ending Saturday delivery.
