Reports of Flooding in East Texas from heavy rain

SMITH COUNTY (KYTX) - Smith County Road and Bridge crews are headed to a flooded Smith County Road. There are also reports of major flooding in Tyler.

Douglas street from Houston to Front street is flooded, and barricades have been placed in those locations. Motorist are urged to avoid these areas if possible.

Due to heavy rain in Tyler many streets are closed due to flooding and numerous traffic lights are
out. Use precaution if you must travel around the CIty of Tyler. There are reports of multiple cars stuck in water.

There are reports of four feet of water at East Erwin and Fleshiel streets in Tyler.

Lindale Volunteer Fire Dept. is telling CBS 19 that portions County Road 411 are under 4 foot of water. The flooding is happening over CR 411 over a bridge.

The Smith County Sheriff's office reports there is also a tree down on FM 724.

Authorities are urging drivers to drive slowly and be on the lookout for possible flooding.
