Texas Secretary of State in Tyler, Longview to discuss Voter ID

EAST TEXAS (KYTX) -

It is highly likely you will have to show an approved photo I.D. when you vote in the next election.

Texas Secretary of State John Steen was in East Texas Wednesday reminding everyone to make sure you have one.

Steen made stops in Smith and Gregg counties, saying he believes both are prepared for the new requirement.

"If you don't have one of the approved forms of photo ID, you can go to the DPS office and get an election identification certificate," he said.

The State of Texas is being sued by the federal government, which wants to stop the photo I.D. law. The Secretary of State had no comment on the law suit.
