Business News: USPS proposes 3-cent rate hike for stamps

(CBS) - In Business News, first class stamps could be going up by 3 cents.

The financially strapped postal service is asking an independent commission to approve the emergency rate hike.

Without it, the postal service says it will quickly run out of cash.

It currently costs 46 cents to mail a letter.



(CBS) - Amazon is turning up the heat in the tablet wars.

It unveiled two new devices called Kindle Fire HDX.

The company says they are significantly faster and lighter than the previous models.

Amazon also cut the price of its 7-inch Kindle Fire HD by $60 bucks to $139 dollars.



(CBS) - South America will soon get a taste of Krispy Kreme doughnuts.

The company is slated to open its first store on the continent.

It will begin with 25 doughnut shops over the next year five years in Colombia.

Krispy Kreme already has about 800 shops internationally including in the U.K. and Japan.
