UPDATE: A man charged with capital murder for shooting a woman outside of a Gilmer football game  wants his bail amount reduced. 

Jonathan Shepherd, 32, is in the Upshur Co. Jail with his bail set at one million dollars.

Shepherd was charged for shooting and killing 29-year-old Cheyenne Green outside a football game at Gilmer High School this past fall. 

According to the Tyler Morning Telegraph, Shepherd's attorneys want his bond reduced lower than 300,000 dollars. 

Judge Lauren Parish has scheduled a hearing in her court on January 7 at 1:30 p.m.

Upshur Co. District Attorney Billy Byrd says he will oppose any reduction in Shepherd's bond.


GILMER (KYTX) - An Upshur County Grand Jury has indicted 32-year-old Jonathan Ray Shepherd on a Capital Murder charge in connection with the September shooting death of 29-year-old Cheyenne Green, of Gilmer.

Shepherd was indicted November 26,2013 and remains jailed in Upshur County on a $1,000,000 bond.



UPDATE:  32-year-old Jonathan Ray Shepherd is now charged with Capital Murder for the shooting death of 29-year-old Cheyenne Green following a bond hearing Thursday in Upshur County District Court .

Shepherd's attorney Gerald Smith of Dallas dropped the motion for a reduction in bond. He will remain jailed on a $1 million bond.



UPDATE: GILMER (KYTX) 32-year-old Jonathan Ray Shepherd was formally charged with murder during an arraignment Friday in Gilmer, and bond was set at $1,000,000. Shepherd remains in the Upshur County Jail in connection with the shooting death of 29-year-old Cheyenne Green, of Gilmer.

Police arrested Shepherd at 2:45 Friday morning.

According to online records, Shepherd has also been arrested 7 other times in Upshur County, going all the back to 1999. Crimes range from resisting arrest, and criminal mischief.




UPDATE: GILMER (KYTX) - The following is a release by the Gilmer Police Department, in regards to a shooting at Buckeye Stadium Thursday night.

On September 26, 2013 at approximately 9:15 pm Gilmer Police were dispatched to the parking lot of the Gilmer High School.  Witnesses reported seeing a white female lying on the ground near a vehicle. After further investigation the female was confirmed to be deceased. The female victim has been identified as Cheyenne Green 29 year old female from Gilmer, Texas. The initial investigation, which was conducted by members of the Gilmer Police, Upshur County Sheriff's Office and the Department of Public Safety, revealed that Ms. Green has suffered from one apparent gunshot wound. Her body has been taken to Southeast Texas Forensic Center in Tyler, Texas for autopsy. The official cause of death and extent of her injuries have not yet been determined. 
 
One suspect is now in the custody at the Upshur County Jail related to the death of Cheyenne Green. No other suspects are believed to be involved in this offense.  No students or faculty from Gilmer High School were involved or injured in this incident. The offense apparently stemmed from domestic violence.
 
The suspects name is not being released at this time pending arraignment by an Upshur County Judge which is expected to take place sometime on September 27, 2013.
 


UPDATE - GILMER (KYTX) - Gilmer Police Spokeswoman Roxanne Warren says that an incident that occurred at the Gilmer High School Parking Lot has resulted in one dead female. Police say that there were no Gilmer or Gladewater students injured in the incident.

Police say the incident happened outside of the Gilmer High School stadium while a football game was going on. The people involved weren't students, but Police think they were watching the football game. Gilmer PD is not releasing any names, but say that they have one male in custody that they believe was involved.

How the female died is not being released at this time, but witnesses on scene say that they heard gun shots coming from the parking lot. 



(KYTX) - Gilmer police are at Gilmer High School tonight where a body has been found in the parking lot.

Gilmer Police Department has confirmed that there was an assault at the football stadium Thursday night.
   
Reporter for the Tyler Morning Telegraph, Philip Williams confirmed that there was a fatality at the stadium. He says he saw a woman's body in between the gym and the high school building.

Gilmer Police, Upshur County Sheriff's office, and DPS are on scene investigating. 

Buffalo St. will be closed until further notice and the high school parking will be moved to the soft ball field, west of the stadium. 

CBS19 has a reporter on the scene and will bring you more information as it becomes available. 

Statement from Gilmer ISD Superintendent Rick Albritton:

"Gilmer ISD school leaders can confirm that a disturbance occurred on the premises of Gilmer ISD tonight. The board and administration want to assure all parents that no students were involved and all students are safe. This incident was unrelated to the Gilmer-Gladewater 8th grade football game. Gilmer Police are investigating."
