Former Longview Lobo and UT quarterback standout dies

(KEYE-TV) - Legendary University of Texas quarterback James Street died this morning. He was 65.

Street was quarterback during the Longhorn's 1969 undefeated season and national championship. His record was 20-0.

UT Head Coach Mack Brown Tweeted, "Very sad day as we lost college FB great, good friend & wonderful man w/passing of James Street. Our thoughts & prayers are w/Janie & family."

He is survived by his wife and five sons--Ryan, Huston, Juston, Jordon and Hanson. Huston is a relief pitcher for the San Diego Padres who himself because a Texas sports legend earning College World Series MVP honors in 2002. Street was from Longview.
