Mt. Pleasant sentenced to 8 years in prison for $200K theft from Pilgrim's Pride

TITUS COUNTY (KYTX) - A Mt. Pleasant man accepted a plea deal Monday for 8 years in prison and restitution for taking more than $200,000 from a local company.

39 year old Rickey Alton Wright of Mount Pleasant was arrested back in December 2013. Mt. Pleasant Police say he embezzled more than $250,000 in equipment from the Pilgrim's Pride Corporation in Mt. Pleasant.  Wright worked as a maintenance employee when the theft happened.

Managers at the plant reported a number of thefts to police.  Detectives recovered about $40,000 of the stolen Pilgrim's equipment from several locations and returned it back to the company.

Detectives say they were able to link some of the stolen equipment  to Wright, who sold the items on the internet.

Wright remains in the Titus County Jail.  He will be transferred to Morris County to deal with a revocation of probation charge before being turned over to the TDCJ.
