Police Search for Serial Central Texas Armed Robbery Suspect

TEMPLE, TX -

(KCEN) – A $10,000 Bell County Crime Stoppers reward has been issued for information leading to the arrest of a dangerous serial robbery suspect.

On Thursday Temple Police Chief Gary Smith held a press conference detailing the suspect they believe is responsible for at least 25 robberies from December 2, 2011 to September 11, 2013.

Smith says the male suspect has been targeting restaurants, convenient stores, and banks in Temple, Belton, Killeen and Georgetown. They believe the suspect stakes out the locations prior to robbing them, and the targets are usually near hotels, apartment complexes or major streets.

The suspect's pattern also shows he robs locations within an hour of the business opening or closing, and he typically is armed with a handgun. "It's our concern that because he exhibits and appears to be quite prepared that he could also be quite prepared to commit the ultimate acts of violence," Smith warned.

The law enforcement agencies are also looking into the possibility of other suspects being involved.

With help from witnesses, victims and surveillance video, police are describing the suspect as a black or Hispanic male, with a height between 5'10" and 6'2", weighing between 220 to 270 pounds (suspect may have lost weight recently).

The suspect is also athletic and muscular, and has been known to talk about life struggles to his victims during the robberies.

If you have any information you are asked to call the Bell County Crime Stoppers at (254) 526-8477. You could be eligible for $10,000 if your tips received through crime stoppers leads to an arrest.
