UPDATE: A trial date has been set for 22-year-old Coby Hudgins who is charged in the October 2013 shooting death of 17-year-old Kayla Williams of Kilgore.

Hudgins appeared Friday before Gregg County 124th District Judge Alfonso Charles. Judge Charles set October 27, 2014 for Hudgins murder trial .

KILGORE (KYTX) - A 17-year-old girl, Kayla Williams, is dead and a 22-year old man, Coby Hudgins, is being held responsible for her death.

The shooting happened at 9:12 Saturday night in the 3000 block of Mustang Drive in Kilgore.

CBS 19’s Katiera Winfrey went to scene of the shooting and explains what police and neighbors say happened.

There is no visible indication a shooting took place at the house on Mustang Drive. The doors are closed and the driveway is empty, but the night before things were different.

In a press release from the Kilgore Police Department said Williams and a group of friends were visiting Hudgins’ home when Williams was killed, police say Hudgins left the scene and crashed his car a short distance from the house.

He was arrested for DWI and murder.

People that live along the 3000 block of mustang drive says it wasn't  uncommon to see a lot of people down at the house where this incident happened. However neighbors and family members who chose to speak off camera said Hudgins was a good kid and that this whole thing is just a big accident.

Police haven’t said if they are investigating the shooting as an accident, however, a neighbor said he was told the gun may have gone off accidentally while Hudgins was showing it to Williams.

Hudgins is being held in the Gregg County jail and being charged with murder and DWI.

His bond for the murder charge is set for $100,000.
