Boil Water Notice for Northwest Waco Area Lifted

Posted: Updated:

UPDATED: October 9, 2013, 3:00 p.m. -- The boil water notice has been lifted.

The City of Waco said that the water now meets all state and federal drinking water criteria and that all residual disinfectant levels are in the normal range. Bacteriological tests indicated that no harmful bacteria were present in the distribution system.

Residents may discontinue boiling water.

If you have any questions, please call 299-CITY (2489).

(KCEN) -- The City of Waco is notifying customers of the need to boil their water prior to consumption.

Those residing from the Brazos River west to Lake Shore Dr., south to MacArthur Dr. and 33rd St., and east to Colcord Ave should heed the warning due to low disinfectant residual levels in the area.

This is a precautionary notice, as the normal amounts of residual chloramine disinfectant in the water have been detected as lower than usual.

To ensure destruction of all harmful bacteria and other microbes, any water used for drinking, cooking and making ice should be boiled and cooled prior to use. The water should be brought to a boil for two minutes.

Purchasing bottled water and water from other suitable sources is also suggested.

Officials will notify customers when the water is safe for consumption again.

If you have any questions, please call 299-CITY (2489).
