Web Exclusive: Cadillac releases new Escalade design with new anti-theft features

Posted: Updated:

(CNN/CBS) - General Motors unveiled a completely redesigned version of its Cadillac Escalade Monday night in New York City. The luxury SUV shares most of its engineering and some of its design with the Chevrolet Suburban and GMC Yukon. GM released new versions of those SUVs last month.

The new design's headlights are composed entirely of LED's with individual crystal lenses.     While it has a more powerful engine than the current Escalade, GM also promises better fuel economy. Escalades are some of the most popular targets of criminals, which the re-design seeks to combat. The new escalade has intrusion sensors, glass breakage sensors and inclination sensors that can detect when the vehicle is being lifted or towed.

Three retailers are in the middle of an iPhone price war. Wal-mart is selling the 5-c model for $45 dollars after Best Buy and Radio Shack announced they would sell the smartphones for $50 bucks, about half the suggested retail price.

A white diamond the size of a small egg has sold for more than $30 million at a Hong Kong auction. The "flawless" oval diamond weighs 118 carats. It was found in Southern Africa two years ago.  While the final price set a new record for a white diamond, it came in below the low end of Sotheby's estimated price.

The fictional TV news anchor Ron Burgundy is now hawking Chrysler cars.  Actor Will Farrell plays the part of the Anchorman, talking up the new Dodge Durango SUV.
