Bullard city council member running for Smith Co. Judge

Posted: Updated:
(TYLER MORNING TELEGRAPH) -  The race for Smith County Court-At-Law Judge has become more crowded.
Brent Ratekin is the latest seeking to replace Thomas Dunn, who is retiring.

Mr. Ratekin is an attorney and a former prosecutor in the DA's office. He is currently serving on the Bullard city council. He says if he is elected he would resign his seat on the council.

Three attorneys from Tyler Jason Ellis, Jim Huggler, and Make Patterson previously announced their candidacies.
They will all face off in the Republican primary next March. So far, no Democrats have filed.

To learn more about Brent Ratekin's background see Dayna Worchel' story in tomorrow's Tyler Paper.
