Posted: Updated:

UPDATE: Harrison County Patrol Deputies found the missing boy Friday in the area of FM 2625 and FM 31, near the Crossroads Baptist Church at approximately 11:10 AM. This is the same area where he was seen by a housekeeping crew on Thursday night.

He is well and will be taken to Willoughby Detention Center where he will remain until further disposition.

The family thanks everyone who took part in spreading the word and helped to locate him.

UPDATE:

Harrison County deputies, Harrison County K-9 deputies, Bossier City Fire Department specialized K-9 team, Texas DPS Air operations unit, and numerous volunteers from ESD-3 searched for 13 -year-old Paul Bass, during the evening and through the night after he was spotted and positively identified by the housekeeping crew at Crossroads Baptist Church on FM 31 and FM 2625 at approximately 5:00 PM.

As the housekeeping staff entered the church, one of the workers noticed Paul in the sanctuary area. He walked toward the back of the church and the housekeeper asked him for his name. He hesitated for a moment and then gave a false name to her. He then fled the building after a short conversation with her toward the south side of the property and abandoned a backpack and his shoes.

Upon investigation, it appeared that he had spent some time inside the church and had been on the roof of the church, where evidence was recovered indicating his presence.

At approximately 5:15 PM an extensive search of the church property and outbuildings was begun. Bossier City Specialized K-9 team members and Harrison County K-9 deputies found evidence of his whereabouts and trailed him for approximately ¼ mile before the scent track was lost.

Texas DPS helicopter unit used infrared equipment in an attempt to locate the boy possibly hiding in the heavily wooded areas surrounding the location.

After approximately 5 hours, the K-9 teams and helicopter withdrew the search areas and ESD-3 volunteers and the parents of the boy continued through the night in a reduced search area. Upon daylight, the search has been continued in hopes that the boy will return home.

He is very familiar with the terrain and the area. Paul Bass is described as a W/M/13 years old with Dark Blonde hair, 5'3", 100 lbs. He was last seen wearing dark shorts and a dark colored short sleeve and barefoot.

If anyone sees the boy or has information, please contact the Harrison County Sheriff's Office at 903-923-4000.
