Before you know it, fall will be here and it will be time to go back to school.  For parents that means stocking up on notebooks, number two pencils, and back to school clothes, all of which usually take a big chunk out of a family's budget.  So, just how much do parents will pay to send their kids off to school this year?More >>

GILMER (KYTX) -- Former Upshur County Commissioner Lloyd Crabtree Pleaded guilty Friday on a charge of illegally disarming a state peace officer.

The charge was related to an October 2012 incident in which Crabtree found Game Warden Shane Bailey on his property, became angry, took his gun and allegedly held him at gun point.

The former commissioner received a ten year prison term suspended in favor of five years of probation. The plea bargain also called for a $1,000 fine, anger management classes, community service and no alcohol or drugs not prescribed by a doctor.

As a matter of course, Crabtree will no longer be allowed to possess fire arms now that he is a convicted felon.

The final stipulation of Crabtree's plea bargain was the reading of a public apology.

"I deeply regret my conduct and actions if last October," he said. "I wish I had handled myself differently."

Judge William Porter was brought in to hear the case after Judge Lauren Parish recused herself based on Crabtree's former position in the county.

"I don't want to see you back," Porter said to Crabtree. You don't want to be back. So do what you're supposed to do and good luck with it.

Two others were filed against Crabtree. They will presumably be dropped as part of the plea bargain.

Crabtree and his family had no comment Friday.
