Police attempt to stop criminals with Wall of Shame

Posted: Updated:

(KYTX) - In Houston, the owner of a small  grocery is fighting back against criminals  he says have stolen from him.

Security camera photographs are now posted on the front windows, of the Happy Land Food store in North Houston.

The people in the photos are wanted by police for allegedly stealing from the store.

The signs include the case number, the date of the alleged crime, and contact information for the  officer working the case. Many shoppers support the owner's actions.

"That's good.Yes, yes...they need to be on blast so people can recognize them and maybe turn them in," says customer, Vickie Worthy.

"A lot of robberies happen around this area, so that's kind of good. It's taking their own initiative.. it's pretty good," says customer Charles Brown.

Police say if the Wall of Shame works, they will suggest other Texas towns follow suit.
