Travis Clardy wants another term representing District 11 in ETX

(KYTX) - Travis Clardy wants a new term in the Texas House of Representatives.

The Republican has announced he is running for re-election to represent District 11, made up of Rusk, Cherokee and Nacogdoches counties.

Clardy is an attorney from Nacogdoches.

Last year, he defeated longtime incumbent Chuck Hobson of Jacksonville in a hotly contested runoff. He has always promoted himself as being very conservative.

During his first term he was involved in a bill restricting what kind of jobs violent sex offenders can hold when they are released and a bill creating a new pharmacy school at UT Tyler.

He says he really spent a lot of time during his first term learning how to get things accomplished and that he is now in a position to put that experience to work to better East Texas.

Although it is still very early, no one else has announced plans to run for the seat.
