Family of Kilgore fire victim speak out

KILGORE (KYTX) - The mother of Calvin Sickler holds on to the only picture that remains of her son, after her home burned down in kilgore thursday.The cause of the fire is still under investigation, but Howard Black says he pulled 8 people out of the burning home.  

"I just wanted to get them out, that's the last thing I want is something to happen to them."

There were 5 adults and 4 children in the home at the time.The fire claimed the life of 31-year old Calvin sickler.
 

"You can see where I was trying to pull the wall apart, but I couldn't. It was too late."   

Sickler's brother in law Howard Black says the family is taking it hard but he's trying to keep them together.
 

"Someone's got to stay strong, and keep them up."
 

the family members are glad no one else was hurt.
Howard says that Calvin will be missed.
 

"He was fun, always joking, good person to be around."

The home, Sickler died in, is considered a total loss. The American Red Cross is currently assisting the family.
