2 Tyler ISD high schools participate in "Celebrate My Drive" nationwide contest

(KYTX) - Two Tyler High Schools are asking our community to support teen drivers.

Robert E. Lee and John Tyler High schools are participating in a nationwide "Celebrate My Drive" contest.

The event encourages communities to stay safe on the road.

Students are asking the East Texas community to commit to safe driving, and then vote for their school. The organizers have a very specific goal in mind. 

"Get awareness out to the community to parents to students that when you're on the roads you need to be focused. You need to enjoy the experience but be safe as well," says Lillian Brooks, TISD Avid District Coordinator.

 

The U.S. school with the most online commitments and votes gets a $100-thousand dollar grant, and a Kelly Clarkson concert on campus.
