Baylor Nation Buzzing Over #8 BCS Ranking

Posted: Updated:

(KCEN)-- There is an extra spring in the steps of Baylor University students.

The football team is ranked #8 in the BCS rankings. That's the highest ranking the Bears have ever received in the BCS.

"It definitely raises the moral around campus," said Freshman Chase Sepulvador. "Everybody is happy when football is winning."

But the BCS excitement is being felt all across Waco. George's Restaurant, which is always packed for Baylor football games, almost had to turn people away this past weekend.

"I think the success helps it," said manager Chris Cady. "We definitely saw an increase from last year's homecoming."

With recent success on the football field, including Robert Griffin III's Heisman in 2011, expectations are higher than ever for the football program.

"It's not just a dream to get to six wins and get a bowl," said Bears Quarterback Bryce Petty. "That's what is expected now."

So when Baylor fans start talking Big 12 Championship, going undefeated, and winning a National Title, nobody is raising an eyebrow.

But if the Bears continue embarrassing their opponents and get a little bit of help from the BCS, they could very well smell the roses in January.
