We live in the South, so some of us may have a Southern accent, but would you consider saying "goodbye" to "howdy, y'all"?
The Oak Ridge National Laboratory in Tennessee was going to offer a speech class for its workers next month to do just that, until it got canceled.

(KYTX) - This Thursday, Oct. 24 at 7 p.m. Liberty Hall continues in the Halloween spirit with scary movie month. We will show John Carpenter’s 1982 remake of “The Thing” starring Kurt Russell.

Taking place in the Antarctic, the movie focuses specifically on a group of American scientists. The audience is given no introduction to their mission, but are thrust into their existence when a pair of seemingly crazy Norwegians appear at their base camp, chasing an escaped dog.

The Norwegians are killed, and the dog finds its way into the camp, which is when things really start to get crazy.

Also, this Saturday, Oct. 26 starting at 10 p.m. Liberty Hall (in partnership with Jericho’s Tours of Tyler) will host the Tyler Rose City Comicon break out event, “Jonah’s Jokers in D Movie Hades.” This will be similar to Master Science Theater 3000 and will be hosted by special guest star Halloween Harvey.

Imagine a double feature movie marathon of the worst films you can find and you get to shout out your own lines at the screen.

The “Jonah's Jokers Group” is coming in from Dallas to present two films, "Night of the Living Dead" and "Dr. Jekyll and the Werewolf.”

For more information on all of the upcoming Rose City Comicon events this weekend go to www.ToursofTyler.com.

Then on Oct. 31 at 8 p.m. the Liberty will show another of John Carpenter’s masterpieces, the classic 1978 horror film “Halloween” starring Jamie Lee Curtis.

“Halloween” set the stage for all of the babysitter slasher films that have come since. Don’t drink or do drugs, don’t mess around and don’t go and investigate a strange noise, because you may not make it back.

Tickets are available online or at the door for $5. Go to www.LibertyTyler.com for more information.
