Cherokee Co authorities seeking public's help on several unsolved burglaries

Posted: Updated:

CHEROKEE CO, (KYTX) - Authorities in Cherokee County are seeking the public's help in an effort to solve several home burglaries that have occurred during the past three months.

On Sunday August 25th, home owners on CR4625 in the Troup Community, reported that their
house had been broken into sometime between 1:30p.m. and 5:30p.m.

Upon Deputies arrival it was discovered that the suspects entered the house through an unlocked side door, and removed only firearms from the master bedroom closet.

Since receiving the report, Investigators have followed up on all possible leads, and searched for
the stolen property. As of this date the burglary remains open.

The items reported stolen from the residence on the day of the burglary were listed as follows:

° Ruger Mini-14, .223 caliber, semi-automatic rifle with a brown wooden stock; approx value of $700
° Bushmaster XM-15, .223 caliber, semi-automatic rifle, all black in color; approx value of $2,100
° Marlin Model 60, .22 caliber, semi-automatic rifle, w/ brown wood stock; approx value of $350
° Youth's 20 gauge pump shotgun, painted with poplin camouflage pattern; approx value of $200
Estimated total value, approximately $3,500

On October 2, 2013 Deputies responded to a residence on FM-2064 in the Gould Community
South of Troup. The home owner had called to report that his residence had been broken into sometime between 8:30a.m. and 12:00 p.m.

The home owner returned to his residence just after Noon, and upon entering his house, he
discovered the living room window broken out at the rear of the house. It was also later discovered that a window in one of the bedrooms at the rear of the house had been broken out and attempted entry through that window. Entry was eventually gained through the broken living room window when the suspect, or suspects, used a cooler from the back yard to boost themselves up and inside the residence.

The homeowner discovered that the bedrooms had been rummaged through, leaving them in
disarray, and only small valuables were stolen.

° Miscellaneous jewelry. Mostly gold and pearl jewelry
° 2 small white coin purses containing silver dollars
° Tan canvas zipper bag containing collectable coins, mostly from 1962.

While at the scene, a neighbor stopped by the residence and advised the Deputy that at around
9:00am he had observed a white, 2008/2009 Chevrolet pickup truck pull into the driveway and was
parked in front of the garage. He further described the truck as very clean, with mud-grip tires, aluminum wheels and a CB antenna on the top of the cab.
No estimate for the total value due to the collectable coins.

On Monday October 21, 2013 at 2:00 a.m.,a home owner on Hwy-135, approximately 2 miles
outside Jacksonville, reported that her residence was broken into sometime during the night, after she left for work at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday.

The unknown suspects gained entry to the residence by kicking in the front door, breaking the
main lock and an external hasp lock. Once inside they stole the following items:

° Sharp brand, 40 inch LCD flat screen TV
° DVD Player and numerous DVD movies
° Gold bracelets, rings and miscellaneous jewelry
° Collectable Buffalo nickels
Estimated total value, over $2,000
