A representative of Clairmont Longview Nursing Home has issued a statement in response to Susan Drayden's complaints.

"We take great pride in the quality of care we strive to deliver on a daily basis, and regret that a member of this family is upset with care allegedly received at our center, although we respectfully disagree with the overall characterization of that care.  Although commenting on the specifics of this matter would be inappropriate, as we are bound by the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) to maintain the privacy of patient information, we are comprehensively reviewing the concerns and will report and investigate them with the goal toresolve those concerns.  We are certainly available to visit with members of this family as they wish, and we wish the resident the very best in the resident's new surroundings.  We will continue to work hard to provide a high quality of care for all of our residents, and we take great pride in our long-standing service to the people of Longview and surrounding areas."

LONGVIEW (KYTX) - An area family wants state health inspectors to investigate a Longview nursing home.

Gregg County Precinct 4 Justice of the Peace Sam Lawson spent seven weeks at Clairmont Longview Nursing Home recovering from a gunshot wound, but when he was taken from Clairmont to a local hospital in mid-September, family members say they discovered nursing home staff had given their father poor care, leading to bed sores and lost mobility in his arms.

"He has probably lost 90 percent of his usage in his right arm in which he had before," Lawson's granddaughter, Susan Drayden, said by phone from her home in Fort Worth. She Says she has filed a complaint with the Texas Department of Aging and Disability Services.

Lawson is now recovering at Good Shepherd Medical Center's Select Medical care building.
