Web Exclusive: Woman ticketed for driving with Google Glass

Posted: Updated:

(CNN) - In what might be a first, a woman in California got a traffic ticket for wearing Google Glass while driving. Cecilia Abadie was pulled over for speeding on Tuesday in San Diego and given an additional citation for driving while wearing her Google Glass. The California law cited in the case is meant to prevent people from watching TV while driving. The officer considered the Google Glass head-mounted display a monitor that was visible to the driver.

Shocked, Abadie posted a copy of the ticket on Google Plus. She never considered that wearing Google Glass while driving could be a no-no. Traffic laws vary state by state, but many now have broad distracted-driving laws or bans on certain monitors that could easily apply to Google Glass.

Forbes has released its list of the world's most powerful people for 2013. Russian President Vladimir Putin took the top spot, knocking President Barack Obama from the top spot to number two. Pope Francis is among the newcomers to the list, landing at number four. German Chancellor Angela Merkel is the only woman in the top 10. She came in at number five. Forbes says the ranking represents their scope of influence and financial resources compared to their peers.

Southwest Airlines and dish are teaming up to give travelers more entertaining flights. The companies announced customers can borrow iPad two tablets to watch live and on-demand TV. And like libraries, it's free. The program will be available on flights between Chicago-Midway, Denver and Oakland International Airports. Passengers can check out an iPad two at a kiosk at one airport and return it at the other airport.
