UPDATE: Lufkin man charged with murder for stabbing his wife

LUFKIN (KYTX) - Richard Taylor is being charged with murder after stabbing his wife.

Shirley Ann Taylor died at the Memorial Medical Center in Lufkin for wounds she received during an assault at her home on Thursday. 

Taylor is being held on bonds totaling $1.25 million dollars.

in addition to the murder charge, Taylor is charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and aggravated sexual assault stemming from blue warrant that was previously issued for his arrest.

 


LUFKIN (KYTX) - UPDATE: According to Lufkin authorities, Shirley Ann Taylor died Thursday evening shortly before 6:00 PM. She was being treated at the Memorial Medical Center in Lufkin for wounds received during an assault at her home earlier that day. The suspect in that assault, husband Richard Taylor is currently charged with aggravated assault, but Lufkin police are now looking to get that charge changed to murder.

LUKFIN (KYTX) - The man suspected of stabbing his wife has been taken into custody. Lufkin Police Detective J.B. Smith says Richard Taylor was arrested Thursday afternoon in Corrigan.

Smith says it started with a disturbance inside at an apartment at Ministry in Action Living Center on Kurth Drive. 

A family member says the victim, Shirley Taylor was arguing with her husband Richard Taylor inside the bedroom. The family member then heard a cry for help and called 911.

Shirley Taylor was found bleeding from an apparent stab wound. She was rushed to the hospital. 

Richard Taylor ran out the back door and witnesses told police he took off in a green Dodge Intrepid.

He faces a charge of aggravated assault.
