Smith County Fugitive on the run for three years taken into custody

TYLER – The U.S. Marshals Service "Joint East Texas Fugitive Task Force" arrested Jason Lee Oliver today. Oliver had been a fugitive from Smith County for exactly three years.

Oliver has been wanted by the Smith County Sheriff's Office since November 1, 2010. His warrants included two felony Indictments of "Assault Family Violence" and "Evading Arrest with Prior Conviction". Oliver was convicted and sentenced to two years in prison for these offenses, but failed to surrender for the service of his sentence.

Oliver's criminal history includes convictions for Assault, Theft, Possession of Marijuana, Evading Arrest, and Failure to I.D. as a Fugitive.

The U.S. Marshals Service adopted this fugitive case on October 24, 2013. The U.S. Marshals Task Force quickly developed information indicating that Oliver was living between Dallas and Tyler, TX under the alias of "Marcos Luis". The USMS Task Force located Oliver this afternoon while he was painting a home on Luther Drive in Tyler, Texas.

The USMS Task Force Agencies that participated in arresting Oliver include the Tyler Police Department, Smith County D.A. Investigator's Office, and the USMS.
