Baylor Preparing For "BlackOut"

Posted: Updated:
(KCEN) -- Baylor is buzzing over Thursday's match up against the # 10 Oklahoma Sooner's. And BU is trying to get fans even more excited my announcing a "BlackOut" for the game.

Fans attending the game are asked to wear all black to match the Bears' all-black uniforms. Hopefully creating an intimidating atmosphere, that will give Baylor a greater home field advantage.

"I'm sure it's going to affect the game," said sophomore Chase Wommack. "I grew up in Waco and now I'm a student, I always came to Baylor games so obviously I never expected anything like this."

The school has been selling a special black T-shirt since last week at their bookstore. They actually had to reorder more shirts to meet the demand.

Students flocked into the book store all day to buy their shirt, and support their team.

"We just wanted to be part of the team," said alumna Ashley Newberry. "Everybody's doing it so why not just jump on board and be uniform as a body of students," added Sophomore Hunter Ward.

Baylor will also be selling these special shirts outside of Floyd Casey Stadium before the game. And inside the stadium during the game.

But it's not just the university embracing the blackout. Hotel Indigo has something special in store of their guests coming into town for the game.

"We decorate the hotel every game day that whole weekend we keep it all full of Baylor colors," said Jacquelyn Baumann, the hotel's director of sales. "But since it's blackout we want to really embrace that and take some special measures for it."

And everyone in Waco is hoping the bit of theatrics, helps bring the bears a W this Thursday.
