Home field advantage at Wildcat Stadium

WHITEHOUSE (KYTX) - Even though the game is over, there was a lot of talk leading up to it tonight in regard to one things: seats.

CBS 19's Jennifer Heathcock shows us how home field advantage can mean more than just a win for a team.

No matter which team you're cheering for, one thing is certain, the seats at Wildcat Stadium were filled to the brim Friday night.

"Hundreds, just said only a few tickets left," says Lejane Noble.

Noble was lucky to get a ticket Friday to the sold out game, she's rooting for Whitehouse, and understands the home field advantage for the players.

"We know our fields, better than traveling somewhere else, not knowing all that," says Noble.

But there's also an advantage for the school district.

The home team does get the gate money.

"The first time we ever played JT was sold out, and this will be the second time sold out and playing JT again," says Whitehouse ISD Athletic Director Richard Peacock.

At 6 dollars for adults and 3 dollars for students, the money can add up.

Peacock says the game will fill all of the nearly 7,000 seats at Wildcat Stadium.

And that good for the district financially, but it's also a concern.

There are only 1,700 spots for visitors.

"Will everyone get in that wants to get in? Probably not. But that's the nature of the game," says Tyler Kaspar says he knows some fans will be turned away since there won't be standing room tickets sold.

"They owe it to their fans to hold it in their stadium and we're visitors, we'll come in and abide by their rules, have a great game," says Kaspar.

A great game, no matter what color is painted in the end zone, or name is on the scoreboard.

"There's going to be people everywhere," says Noble.

The University Interscholastic League determines where the games are played, usually switching between teams home stadiums each year.

Last year it was at Trinity Mother Frances Rose Stadium.
