Veterans honored with free lunch at Texas Roadhouse

(KYTX) - Veterans lined up outside the Texas Roadhouse in Tyler.

They opened up early to serve a free lunch thanking anyone who served in the military.

A lot of the veterans used the time together to remember what things were like when they were deployed and the welcome when they got home.

"I was in the Marine Corps before Pearl Harbor and I retired out of the corps after 22 years, 10 months, 10 days and 15 minutes," says Ret. Lt. Col. John Davis who served in World War II.

"I mean we hadn't seen women in a long time. And when you see Betty Grable in a dance routine, it was awesome," says Ret. Pvt. 1st Class Buster Barlow who also served in World War II.

Texas Roadhouse was just one of many restaurants and retailers offering discounts on this veterans day.
