TYLER, Texas – November 14, 2013 –East Texas Communities Foundation announces the establishment of the TransCanada Charitable Fund, a $125,000 program that will provide grants to qualifying non-profit organizations in 18 Texas counties over the next 4 years.

The fund is designed to help improve East Texas communities and the lives of its residents through grants of up to $5,000 to qualifying non-profit organizations in the counties where TransCanada pipeline operations and projects exist.

"East Texas Communities Foundation is pleased to support TransCanada's charitable initiatives for the East Texas region by administering a grant application process to identify and select meaningful projects. This charitable fund is a win-win for ETCF and TransCanada. This fund helps ETCF meet our mission of simplifying charitable giving for individuals and organizations in East Texas; and it supports the efforts of a global corporation to make a meaningful impact in the communities in which they do business," said ETCF President Kyle Penney.

The TransCanada Charitable Fund will support 501(c) 3 organizations, projects and government entities in eligible counties. Projects and programs must fall within three charitable categories including community, safety and the environment.

Eligible counties include: Angelina, Chambers, Cherokee, Delta, Fannin, Franklin, Hardin, Harris, Hopkins, Jefferson, Lamar, Liberty, Nacogdoches, Polk, Rusk, Smith, Upshur and Wood.

"We're pleased to establish the TransCanada Charitable Fund that will contribute to the well-being of East Texas residents," said Corey Goulet, Vice President, Keystone Pipeline Projects. "At TransCanada, being a good neighbor and contributing to communities is an integral part of our success. The establishment of the fund is another example of our commitment to long-term community investment and our dedication to the people of East Texas."

 

Carolyn Jones, board member for the Winnsboro Community Foundation, remarked "Winnsboro Community Foundation is proud to lend our support to this effort by assisting with the evaluation and selection of projects directly affecting the citizens of our community. We appreciate the generosity of TransCanada and look forward to the opportunity to impact many lives in our community with this gift."

 

Tyler Chamber of Commerce Chief Operating Officer Henry Bell said, "We welcome the opportunity to celebrate with our members the announcement of this charitable grant program. East Texas businesses are known for their strong support of charities in our communities and we are pleased to see one of our newest members engaging in this effort."
