Before you know it, fall will be here and it will be time to go back to school.  For parents that means stocking up on notebooks, number two pencils, and back to school clothes, all of which usually take a big chunk out of a family's budget.  So, just how much do parents will pay to send their kids off to school this year?More >>

(KYTX) - When you hear the name, "Loan Ranger," you probably think of the fictional character who fought injustice in the old west.

But, the "Loan Ranger" we're talking about got his name for targeting financial institutions that make loans.

In one of his first robberies, he wore a Texas Rangers baseball cap.

Tyler's ties to the "Loan Ranger" Bandit started the afternoon of August 31, 2011. Surveillance cameras caught the man strolling into the Altra Federal Credit Union like any other customer.

Long after that investigation wrapped up, with no arrest, another Tyler robbery.  That robbery happened May 17, 2012 at the Compass Bank on South Broadway.

"The odd thing is he doesn't really wear any disguise and it's just beyond us how he hasn't been recognized," said Tyler Officer Don Martin.

Since 2009, besides Texas, the "Loan Ranger" bandit has robbed banks in Arkansas, Mississippi, and Kentucky.

The bandit's most recent robbery in Lampasas, Texas. Before that, in Temple, at the Santa Fe Community Credit Union.

It's the second time he's hit up that location.

"The fact is, he may come back here again. We want everyone to be on alert and kind of have that photo embedded in your memory to think that's the guy," said Officer Martin.

When we spoke with the FBI earlier this year, they told us about a $10,000 reward was up for grabs in his arrest.

"Someone knows who this man is," said Diego Rodriguez with the FBI.

The FBI says the "Loan Ranger" bandit is clever.

He picks stand-alone institutions that offer easy access to major roadways, so he can make a quick getaway.

"We need that tip, we need that break, where they recognize him in the parking lot, walking into the bank, where they can dial 911 and say I think your suspect just walked in here," added Officer Martin.

Police would like everyone to remain vigilant, especially all bank tellers, and to be on the look-out for the bandit and any possible vehicle he may be driving.

The bandit has displayed a handgun in all of his robberies and should be considered armed and dangerous.
