Family Reacts to the Death of Gail Sandidge

Nurse fatally stabbed, others injured at Good Shepherd Medical Center

UPDATE: Longview Police say that Gail Sandidge, a registered nurse who worked at Good Shepherd Medical Center, was killed in this morning's stabbing.


 

UPDATE: One employee is dead and one is hospitalized in critical condition following a stabbing around 7 a.m. Tuesday at the Good Shepherd Ambulatory building in Longview

Longview Police information officer Kristie Brian said the deceased is a nurse at the hospital. The nurse's name has not been released at this time. Three visitors were also injured and are listed in good condition.

A suspect is in custody, and the name of the suspect has not been released at this time.

Steve Altmiller, President and Chief Executive Officer of Good Shepherd Health System issued the following statement:

"The Good Shepherd family tragically lost a member of our team this morning. At approximately 7 a.m., there was a stabbing incident that occurred at our Ambulatory Surgical Center located across the street from the main Medical Center that injured two employees and three visitors. At this time, of the remaining patients, one is in critical condition and three are in good condition. The Longview Police are currently investigating the incident.

All victims were taken to the emergency center for assessment and treatment. This was an isolated incident that was diligently handled by the Longview Police Department and our Good Shepherd response team.

We are unable to answer any additional questions until the police complete their investigation. We will provide an update on the patient's conditions at 4 p.m. today.
Our thoughts and prayers are with the families of those affected and our team who responded to today's events."
 

 


 

LONGVIEW (KYTX) - Longview Police are on the scene of a stabbing at Good Shepherd Hospital. Officer Kristie Brian tells CBS19 it happened at the Ambulatory building, which is across the street from the hospital.

We don't have any details on what kind of injuries there were. We'll pass along any details as we get them.
