Family friend of Kyron Templeton: "He was a good boy"

Posted: Updated:

LONGVIEW (KYTX) - Court documents paint a picture of a man who seemed to be concerned about his mother.

Detectives interviewed a Good Shepherd employee who took 22-year-old Kyron Templeton's mother from the main hospital to ambulatory surgical center Tuesday morning.

He told detectives that Templeton was with her.

"Oh, he truly loved his mother with everything he had. That was her only baby," said the family friend.

We spoke to a family friend of Templeton and his mother. She asked that we not identify her.

"I never would in a million years think he would do something such as that."

The family friend told us that Templeton's mother had been dealing with some type of illness.

"His mom was a wonderful lady and she was a hard working lady. She would catch the bus every morning going to work. She was wonderful and she did her best with Kyron."

According to this affidavit, while Templeton was in the surgical center, he suddenly snapped.

He's accused of stabbing and killing nurse Gail Sandidge, hurting several others, while according to witnesses, yelling that they were going to kill his mother.

"Something had to take control of his mind for him to act like that," added the family friend.

The family friend told us, she and her husband, had been providing help to Templeton.

"We counseled Kyron concerning problems and things he had."

While we don't know what those problems were. We know his only previous conviction was for theft in April of this year.

"I have him in my heart and he's in my prayers, that's whatever going on, that God will work out things for him and his family."

According to Templeton's facebook page, he graduated from Longview High School in 2009.

His last job listed was at Walmart.

On his facebook page, he says he doesn't mind meeting new people. He says he likes to stay active by playing basketball, football, going to work, and going to school.

He says his favorite saying is to "be yourself."
