1 killed and 5 injured in Rusk Co. wreck

RUSK COUNTY (KYTX) -

UPDATE : Emergency crews responded to a 2 vehicle wreck near Mt. Enterprise Wednesday night.

The wreck happened at the intersection of FM 95 and Highway 84 around 6:30 p.m.

Dawson Alan Masters, 49, was driving eastbound on Highway 84 when a driver, Michael Kenneth Howart of Lufkin, heading northbound on FM 95 ran a stop sign causing the accident.

DPS tells CBS 19 that passenger Debbie Masters, 54, was air-lifted to Trinity Mother Francis in Tyler and pronounced dead later that night. 

Michael Kenneth Howart , was also treated at Trinity Mother Francis and later released. There has been no new information on the status of the other people hurt in the accident.


The Rusk Co. Sheriffs department reports that 6 people, including a baby, were injured and two were flown to Trinity Mother Francis in Tyler. The baby was not one of the passengers flown to the hospital. 

The names of the people involved in the wreck have not been released at this time.
