LeTourneau University posthumously celebrates founder's 125th birthday

LONGVIEW (KYTX) - LeTourneau University honored its founder today on what would have been his 125th birthday.

More than a thousand students, faculty and guests met at the university's west lawn. President Dr. Dale Lunsford laid a wreath at the gravesite of R.G. LeTourneau and his wife, Evelyn.  According to the university, LeTourneau was an inventor of earth-moving equipment and amassed more than 300 patents in his life.

His surviving son, Ben LeTourneau, attended today's service.
