Christmas classics to be shown at Liberty Hall through December

Posted: Updated:

(KYTX) - This holiday season the City of Tyler's Liberty Hall will present four Christmas classic films for December on the big screen.

Come see "Elf" starring Will Ferrell on Thursday, Dec. 5 at 7 p.m. at Liberty Hall, after the Tyler Jaycees Christmas parade. A baby is inadvertently brought to the North Pole in Santa's sack. The elves raise him as one of their own. However, due to his large size he wreaks havoc on the elf community. Buddy is therefore sent to America to find his true identity.

Thursday, Dec. 12 at 7 p.m. will be the 1954 classic, "White Christmas", starring Danny Kaye, Bing Crosby and Rosemary Clooney. A successful song-and-dance team become romantically involved with a sister act and team up to save the failing Vermont Inn.

Then, come see "It's A Wonderful Life" starring Jimmy Stewart and Donna Reed on Dec.19 at 7 p.m. George Bailey has spent his entire life giving of himself to the people of Bedford Falls. He has always longed to travel but never had the opportunity. The bitter Mr. Potter wants to take over Bedford Falls and all that prevents him from doing so is George's modest building and loan company, which was founded by his generous father. Then on Christmas Eve, George's absent-minded Uncle Billy accidentally loses $8,000 of the bank's money. Giving Mr. Potter the opening he has been waiting for to ruin George Baily. In total despair George believes the only option is to take his life so that his family is spared. But sensing his hopelessness the town comes together with prayers that result in a gentle angel named Clarence coming to earth to help George...

Our last film of the season will be on Saturday, Dec. 21 at 3 p.m., showing the 2004 "The Polar Express" with Tom Hanks. Based on the best-selling book of the same name, this is the animated story of a young boy on Christmas Eve who boards a powerful magical train that's headed to the North Pole and Santa Claus's home. What unfolds is an adventure that takes this doubting boy to the North Pole.

Tickets are $7, the doors open at 6 p.m. and the movies start at 7 p.m. Tickets are available online or at www.libertytyler.com or at the door one hour prior to the show.
