Press release from Jarvis Christian College:

HAWKINS,TX (KYTX) - The Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC) announced on December 10, 2013 that Jarvis Christian College has been removed from sanction.

The College was placed on probation, but continued in membership for "good cause" in December 2012. The action removing Jarvis Christian College from probation was taken after the Commission reviewed the College's most recent monitoring report documenting continued improvement in the institution's financial stability.

Jarvis President Lester C. Newman acknowledged that the review by SACSCOC resulted from many hours of concentrated work. "Jarvis Christian College is now well positioned to advance its educational mission. We are now able to focus on expanding the programs we have to prepare students for lifelong learning and rewarding careers," he said after the decision was announced.

According to President Newman, the removal from sanction is a tremendous accomplishment for the College. "It required a lot of work from the faculty, staff, and members of the executive cabinet. I thank the Board for their support throughout this process. Through a collaborative effort of all the entities mentioned above, we were successful in documenting and proving that the College has a sound financial model."

James Atkinson, chairman of the Jarvis Board of Trustees, commended the President and administration for the progress made in addressing the concerns of SACSCOC. He said "the President and his staff have made remarkable progress in addressing the concerns of the Commission on Colleges in a very short time. The Board is excited about the possibilities that this creates for the future."
