ATHENS (KYTX) - Nine children were injured Wednesday afternoon after two Athens ISD buses collided.

A total of 60 children on the buses, ages five to ten years-old, were taken to ETMC in Athens for evaluation.

Athens school representatives said buses 13 and 14 were involved in a collision on South Palestine street. CBS 19 spoke to a student who said one school bus rear-ended the other.

"I fell to the ground and I hit my legs on the metal," said Alex Rodriguez.

Parent Tito Lux said he was scared when he heard from a neighbor that a school bus crash had happened.

"I was fixing to start crying cause I didn't know what had happened to him.  Nobody had called me or anything that my son had been involved in an accident.  So, I was frightened," said Tito Lux.

None of the injuries are life threatening. Students suffered some fractures, bumps, bruises. All students will be treated and released, according to hospital staff.
