Tyler radio show host camping at mall to get donations for toy drive

TYLER (KYTX) - It's been four days and a popular radio show host is still looking for help in bringing in a ton of toys.

Jammin' Jimmy Olson has been sleeping in a storage container this week at the Broadway Square Mall trying to gain attention and get people to bring in toys for his toy drive.

While donations are trickling in Olson says he's trying to beat his goal from last year of 178 bikes and 7,000 pounds of toys, but he's hit some medical problems.

"Unfortunately this year, almost 8,000 kids need assistance, so I need to exceed that goal. But, because my health is not good, when I hit 2,000, I'm done. But I won't start weighing until Sunday. So, please bring whatever you can immediately and help out," says Olson.

Olson says he needs at least 1,500 pounds more of toys and 50 bikes.

There is also a free concert in the mall parking lot this Saturday to try to get the word out about the toy drive.
