Whitehouse teen performs for children of fallen soldier

Posted: Updated:

(KYTX) - A Whitehouse teenager will perform on Sunday in Dallas as part of a project to help children of fallen soldiers cope with loss.

Cliff Mauer whose dad was killed in service two years ago will play his guitar in a talent showcase.

Cliff told us that when it came to playing the guitar his Dad was his No. 1 fan. He says he continues to play because he knows that's what his dad would have wanted.

He is now involved in the Texas Music Project which helps children of fallen soldiers use music to help deal with the pain of loss.

Almost everybody at the showcase either on stage or in the audience will be children of fallen parents. So they have a very powerful common bond. And as Christmas approaches it can be a difficult time for them.

For more about the Texas Music Project, see Rebecca Hoeffner's story in Saturday's Tyler Paper.
