Health Alert: Fracking sites tied to hormone disruptors

Posted: Updated:

(CBS) - Many of the chemicals used in fracking can disrupt the production of hormones like testosterone and estrogen.

That's according to researchers at the University of Missouri School of Medicine.

Scientists tested water samples at natural gas drilling sites where spills took place.

They found the water had higher levels of endocrine disrupting chemicals which could affect hormone function.

(CBS) - Scientists in Korea says if you want to lose belly fat, try "five-point ear acupuncture."

The therapy is based on the understanding that the outer ear represents all parts of the body.

During the process five needles are inserted into the outer ear.

The needles get changed once a week for 8 weeks.

Researchers say you can trim your waist, and cut your body mass index more than 6 percent.

(CBS) - The FDA wants the makers of antibacterial hand soaps and body washes to show their products are safe for long-term daily use and more effective than regular soap and water in preventing the spread of germs.

The FDA has proposed that companies that can't prove this would have to change their products, or re-label them to keep them on the market.
