Children are a Gift: Esmeralda and Jamie

Posted: Updated:

(KYTX) – With charming little personalities, this brother and sister are a joy to be around.

"These kids have actually been wonderful from day one when they came into foster care. Everybody that meets these kids melts. They are sweet, obedient and affectionate. They are great kids," said Brandi Jaco with Child Protective Services.

Esmeralda, or Ezzy as she likes to be called, is a young 6-year-old. "I like to play with my brother and he's silly."

She is happy, healthy and very well-behaved. "I like to play with Barbies and play dress-up," said Ezzy with a big grin.

Jaco describes Ezzy as an outgoing young lady. "She is in Kindergarten and she loves school. She is very talkative. She does not meet a stranger. She will let you know what she is thinking. She is just very warm with everybody she meets."

Ezzy's biggest issue right now is a few missing teeth. "I wiggled it and I pulled it out and then they gave me two dollars," she said lisping with two missing front teeth.

Her little brother is 4-year-old Jaime. He's a rough and tough little guy who is also very well-behaved. He can be shy in some ways, but loves to interact with people.

"He has these cute little cheeks that everybody sees and they just warm up to him quickly," said Jaco.

Jaime enjoys putting together puzzles and usually has a smile on his a face. He plays very well with his big sister and their bond is strong. These children need a forever family who will make them feel safe.

"They just need a home that understands working with little ones that have been abused and neglected although we are not seeing any signs of their history."

Like any children, they are excited about this magical time of year. "I want Santa to bring me a cheerleader dress-up," said Ezzy with great anticipation of Christmas day.

But the one thing they want most can't be found under the tree, but rather in someone's heart; a loving family these children will cherish forever.
