Winona man used faked Facebook account to lure teen beating victim, according to complaint

Posted: Updated:

LONGVIEW (KYTX) - The Winona man accused of brutally killing a teen at a Longview mobile home park last week lured the victim through a fake Facebook account, according to an eight-page arrest warrant and complaint released to CBS 19 this afternoon.

Twenty-two-year-old Alejandro Gallegos-Garcia is in jail on $500,000 bond, charged in the death of 19-year-old Andres Chavez, of Longview. Chavez' body was found Monday, Dec. 23, beside an oil well at Whistlestop Mobile Home Park, in the 1100 block of Sabine Street in southwest Longview.

In a complaint filed by Longview police investigator Trevor Yates, officers at the scene Dec. 23 were approached by a woman who said she knew someone with information about the homicide investigation. Officers returned to the woman's home and spoke with another woman, identified as Perla, who said her brother was Gallegos-Garcia.

According to the complaint, she said her brother set up a fake Facebook account posing as a hispanic woman named "Monica Ayalin," and Gallegos-Garcia showed his sister a Facebook status update showing Chavez and "Monica Ayalin" in a relationship. Perla told investigators that Gallegos-Garcia asked her mother and her boyfriend to help him attack Chavez when he arrived at the mobile home park, according to the complaint.

Investigators found packaging for a new baseball bat and baseball gloves on a table at the woman's home, and they say those items matched a fingertip portion of a black glove found at the crime scene, along with a broken piece of a bat, according to the complaint.

Perla's boyfriend told investigators that he knew about Gallegos-Garcia's plan to lure Chavez to a location and beat him up because he believed Chavez wanted to sexually assault Perla, according to the complaint.
