Nacogdoches man dies in two-vehicle crash

NACOGDOCHES (KYTX) - A traffic accident Sunday night in Nacogdoches has left one person dead.

Police report the fatality accident occurred in the 800 block of North University at Pruitt Hill Drive Sunday evening, January 5, at 9:40 PM.

Preliminary investigation indicates that a 2000 Toyota 4 door, driven by 21-year-old Aston Lynn Rusk, of Nacogdoches was traveling west on Pruitt Hill Drive and was attempting to turn south on University Drive. This vehicle pulled out into the path of a northbound 2008 Chevrolet pickup, driven by 20-year-old Carter Don Willmon, of Lufkin. The Chevrolet pickup struck the Toyota in the driver's side.

Mr. Rusk was transported to Nacogdoches Memorial Hospital. He died at 2:24 a.m. Monday.

The accident is still under investigation by the NPD Traffic Division.
