Business News: American Airlines frequent flier changes

Posted: Updated:

(CNN) - Frequent fliers on American and U.S. Airways can now start using their benefits through both airlines.

That's according to a statement released Tuesday from American.

the airline merged with U.S. Airways back in December and kept the American name.

With this week's announcement, frequent fliers can earn and redeem miles on either airline, and members will be allowed in each airline's clubs.

Company officials say the new measures are the first steps to fully integrate the two frequent flier programs into one.

(CBS) - Americans are regaining their confidence and borrowing more money.

The Federal Reserve says Americans increased their borrowing by $12.3 billion dollars in November, which was mostly for auto and student loans.

Credit card borrowing was up by a much smaller margin, which is at about $458 million dollars.

(CNN) - If you've been looking to switch cell phone carriers, but are too afraid of breaking your contract, then T-Mobile says it will take care of all fees for you.

The move is part of the company's "uncarrier" strategy that has shaken things up in the wireless market.

Customers can take their number and phones to T-Mobile and sign-up for service.

The company will credit you as  much at $650 dollars to make the switch.

The announcement comes a week after AT&T said it would pay T-Mobile customers up to $450 dollars to switch carriers.
