Health Alert: New test could predict heart attacks

Posted: Updated:

(CBS) - Researchers in California have developed a test that could identify people at high risk of having a heart attack.

The test can detect certain cells in the blood that usually line the arteries.

Those cells are released when deadly plaque builds up and ruptures, which can lead to blood clots and heart attacks.

(CBS) - Cases of lung cancer in the U.S. are slowing down.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention reports cases of lung cancer dropped between 2005 and 2009.

The rate fell more rapidly for men than women.

The American Lung Association says the figures prove tobacco control efforts are working.

(CBS) - Coffee may not be as dehydrating to your system as first thought.

British researchers had one group of men drink four mugs of coffee and another drink the same amount of water for three days.

Then they switched drinks after a two week break.

The study found no difference in hydration between the groups.
