LINDALE (KYTX) -

The Lindale Volunteer Fire Department announced Saturday that potentially fake bank accounts were being set up in an attempt to take advantage of the support for fire fighter Joe Yeakley.

The department is reminding people that there is only one official account whose proceeds will end up helping Yeakley and his family. That account is through Texas Bank & Trust and donations can be made at any of the bank's locations. Donations can also be mailed to:

Lindale Volunteer Fire Dept.
For Benefit of Joe Yeakley
P.O. Box 8
Lindale, TX 75771

Blood donations in Yeakley's name can be made at any Carter BloodCare location. The department briefly held a donation drive for items to send in a care package. Fire fighters said Saturday that donations were so strong they'd run out of room and asked that people consider giving to the fund instead.

Yeakley was severely injured while fighting a house fire Friday morning.

The department said Yeakley's family continues to ask for prayers for the community as Yeakley remains in critical condition at Parkland Hospital in Dallas.
