MARSHALL (KYTX) - East Texas Baptist University Freshman Ro Burns climbs this ladder with a little tremble in her legs. Going more than a couple of rungs off the ground really isn't her thing. But today, she wants to overcome it.

"I am a little nervous about heights. But I love trying new things and I love being able to say I did that."
She says she knows absolutely nothing about building a house.
"My dad's an electrician, does that count?"
Burns and her friends are a part of the very first Women's Build in Marshall. And they're all students at ETBU.  Organizer Lisa Seeley says getting these girls out here was easy. The event is sponsored by the Habitat for Humanity. 
"Dr. Seeley says this type of service gives her students an instant gratification"
"Sometimes when you do service, you don't get to see the results. Here you get to see it as soon as you're done."
The students have been working on this home for 6 weeks  and have another 6 to go. Today, they worked on shingling the roof. Once finished, a single mother of 3 will move in. For students like Nicole Graham, it's a better way to spend a Saturday morning.
"I had all of my Saturday's free, and I would rather come do something important than sit and watch TV."
