Mother accused of abducting 21-year-old daughter, two grandchildren near San Antonio

SAN ANTONIO (KENS 5) - A 45-year-old woman is facing burglary and injury to a child charges after she tried to force her daughter to move back to Tyler, Texas, according to the Wilson County Sheriff's Office. 

Rosa Cruz is accused of abducting her 21-year-old daughter and two grandchildren from a home in Pandora, Texas. Pandora is about 40 miles southeast of San Antonio. 

Authorities said Cruz was upset that her daughter had moved in with a boyfriend and had taken Cruz's two grandchildren with her.

On Tuesday, Jan. 21, Cruz and the victim's ex-boyfriend traveled to Pandora, with the intention of bringing the woman and her 11-month-old and 4-year-old kids back with them to Tyler, according to authorities. 

Once there, police said, the mother crawled through a window to gain access to the home before dragging all three victims out. 

A neighbor reportedly witnessed the incident and even tried to intervene. 

The family was stopped by TxDPS troopers on U.S. Highway 87, near La Vernia. Cruz was arrested and booked on a $50,000 bond, which she posted on Wednesday, according to WCSO. 

Investigators said Cruz faces up to life in prison if convicted.
