UPDATE: At least one Longview family was forced to spend last night in a hotel, after fire destroys their apartment.

Just after 9 Thursday night, firefighters, EMS and police came to his four-unit complex at Highland Village Apartments in the 5500 block of West Loop 281.

Fire Marshal Johnny Zackary said one woman was taken to Good Shepherd Medical Center for minor smoke inhalation, but she's expected to be okay, and there were no other injuries.

The fire marshal hasn't determined a cause, but Jolanda Morgan said she hurried from her job in Kilgore when she heard her grand kids and great grand kids lost their home.

"My grand baby lives in the apartment that's burned, and the mother called me, and I tell you, it upset me so bad because I couldn't understand what she was saying," Morgan said, "and I broke every law, and I'm a law-abiding citizen, but I broke every law to get here to find out what condition my grand baby and her daughter was in."

The American Red Cross is helping two adults and two children who lived in the damaged upstairs apartment with clothes and a hotel stay.

Zackary says a downstairs apartment also suffered water damage. No word on whether the two people who lived in that apartment were forced to find another place to stay last night.

LONGVIEW (KYTX) -- Longview Fire Marshal Johnny Zackary says fire forced a family of four out of an apartment Thursday night.  The fire around 9 p.m. happened at the Highland Village Apartments in the 5500 block of W. Loop 281. Fire trucks from at least four stations were called to that location.  We're told one other apartment sustained water damage. There's no word at this point on the cause but we're told no one was injured.
