Early morning shooting leaves two East Texans dead, suspect arrested

NACOGDOCHES (KYTX) - Nacogdoches Police are investigating a double homicide that occurred early this morning in the Eastwood Terrace Apartment complex.

Police were called to the 3000 block of Santa Fe at 4:04 AM. Upon arrival, officers found two men lying on the ground outside of an apartment building. Both had suffered gunshot wounds.

Deveston Denard Flemon, age 32 of Nacogdoches, was pronounced dead at the scene by Justice of the Peace Kerry Don Williamson. William Richard Cole, III, age 33 of Nacogdoches, was transported by ambulance to a local hospital where he died shortly after arrival.

NPD Detectives obtained a warrant for the arrest of Decobie Dywain Durden, age 36 of Nacogdoches, charging him with capital murder. He was arrested at approximately 8:30 AM by NPD officers in the 1300 block of Raguet in Nacogdoches. 

This case is still under investigation. Updates will be issued as information develops.
